Ordinary
‘Joy comes to us in moments—ordinary moments. We risk missing out on joy when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary.’
Brene Brown
I have to remind myself, that even though I’m living my dream, there are loads and loads of ordinary days doing ordinary things. In fact, life as a creative writer can be quite plain. But that’s OK, because I’m in my lane, doing what I’m meant to do and being who I’m meant to be. Even though the days are ordinary, I get to live an extraordinary life and actually, the simple art of writing genuinely brings me joy. I really mean that. I often find myself at the end of a session of writing, when I’ve really been in the flow—shaking my head in disbelief. You see, after years of fighting to get into my lane and being resolute that I would get there— I now get to do what I love every single day.
It may be ordinary to most, but it’s my extraordinary and it pumps me full of joy.
